Hey, lovelies,
Happy New Year! I’m so grateful to God for the gift of life. I pray that 2025 brings you abundant blessings.
Right now, I’m 37,000 feet up in the sky, and by the time this blog is published, I’ll be in my sunny homeland of Jamaica. Let’s take a quick moment to reflect on 2024. I’m sure we can all agree that it wasn’t the year we had planned, but it was certainly the year we needed. For me, I feel like 2024 gave me the push I was missing in many areas of my life. It made me realise that I’m not where I am because of a lack of self-discipline. What did 2024 look like for you?
My goal today is to reflect on the past before diving into the new. I don’t want this entry to be purely about “New Year, New Me,” but I do have a few tips and gems I’d like to share.
Every year, I feel at peace entering the new year in the house of the Lord. This year, my pastor’s message was that 2025 will be the year of GRACE. It’s all about understanding that we each have our own time and season. It’s crucial that we learn to recognise when it’s our time, even if we’re in a place that seems to be hindering our growth.
One of the best things about the new year is that “new year buzz”—the feeling that you can achieve anything, because you’ve been given another chance to start fresh. What a beautiful feeling!
But let’s be honest—you’re no stranger to that feeling. I’m sure you’ve experienced it for the past five years (I know I have). The truth is, you didn’t need the new year to unlearn bad habits. You didn’t need a new year to start distancing yourself from people or things that drain your energy. It didn’t need to be a new year to start a business, take a course, or look for a new job. And you certainly didn’t need to enter a new year to understand that old ways don’t open new doors.
Ultimately, the lesson here is that change begins within. You can set all the goals you want, but if you’re not ready to change how you react to things, break old habits, set strong boundaries, shift your mindset, and take better care of yourself, you’ll remain stuck in the same place.
To help you kick-start better habits and achieve your goals, here are some top "SHE NOTED" tips:
